Genre Research: Decision

Image
After much consideration, we decided on the genre of our final task assignment. We have decided to do our final task assignment as an action movie. There is a multitude of reasons why we decided on this genre. The two main genres that were up for the decision were Thriller and Action.  The first major reason we decided on this genre was due to the fact that thriller/horror films are extremely common submissions for the final Task. We decided we wanted to try to do something different with the project which lead us to this decision. We will still be using elements of the thriller genre but it will mainly be an action-centered film.  The second major reason why we decided that the action genre would be a better choice than the thriller genre in the context of this movie was due to the main proposal we had. We felt that a movie based around war and a soldier would better suit an action movie rather than a straight thriller. The movie and the opening scene will contain ...

Common Camera angles:  High Angle/Bird’s eye view:  This type of angle is typically used to convey weakness or show one has power over someone else.  Close up shot:  Typically used to exaggerate to show the severity of an event someone is witnessing.  Tracking or panning:  These shots are used to further absorb the audience into the world and help convey the sense of urgency and thrill.  Reverse: Often this shot is used to showcase something that already happened in past, usually to highlight consequences.  Tilted Angle:  Another thing used to further suck the reader into the world of the movie. It can help make scenes more brutal and or impactful by showing the perspective of the victim.  Extreme long shots or Long shots:  Used to showcase the atmosphere or area in the movie.  Low Angle shots: Often used to showcase the strength of a villain and to make the audience feel weak.  Hand-Held Camera shots: T...

Genra Research: Horror

Common Camera Angles: Hand held camera shot: This is used very often in horror films to add a sense of reality. It makes the audience feel involved and adds to the horror of the scene as you feel like you are there. Low angles: Low angle shots are very powerful in the way they can emphasize just how scary or intimidating a villain is. Tilted angle: Tilt shots add a lot of dramatic tension to shots, and could simplify a supernatural being, for example pushing or moving the camera. Another great use for the tilt shot is to act as though the camera is a victim on the floor and you are seeing what they're seeing. Close up: Close ups that are used in these sort of genre are used to see reactions on the actors face. This is a shot that shows the most emotion from the characters. It is also used to capture detail in an important scene. Tracking or panning shot: These shots connotes movement. This is used very effectively in horror films to make out a character is being followed or watch...

Our Pitch

Image
Pitch 1: “Young Stephen is exposed to the horrors or war as he witnesses the event that would begin World War III. “ There was a multitude of reasons that lead to us coming up with this idea. While we were discussing ideas Christian suggested that we look at areas we have easy access to and what we can film there so it is easier to get back and forth from the set. Jorge suggested the park down the street from me due to the somewhat hilly battlefield-like landscape. With the rising tensions between the U.S. and Russia, we believed that it could be more relevant. The open field is like a blank canvas and lends itself to easy edits for later on in the process.  Pitch 2: In the near future robots have gained sentience and some live among humans. People have started reporting citings of robots with broken parts and red spatters on their exoskeletons…  My group members and I were all playing the new Five Nights At Freddy’s :” Five Nights At Freddy’s Security Breach” and w...

Partners, For the Final Time!

Image
For the third project we were assigned I decided to work in a group. My group consists of Jorge Lopez, and Christian Bundalevski. I typically like working in group settings because I feel like the different perspectives help provide a better final product. Obviously, I have had group projects in the past that were not so stellar experiences but I feel as if this project will go much more smoothly. Being able to choose groups is very nice as opposed to the teacher deciding.  Jorge Lopez, I have known for many years. We first became friends in the 5th grade and stayed friends all throughout middle school. We ended up going to the same high school together and spent much of last year in discord calls together along with another friend, but that is a story for another day. I have done projects with Jorge in the past and he is very good at coming up with creative ideas. He is also very funny but not overly distracting in a group setting.  Now Christian I have also kno...

Hello to whoever is reading this, I am Alexandros Rapanos. I am very excited to be working on this new "Final Task" project. The commercial and Music video was a lot of fun and I feel like this will be even more fun.  My favorite art form is animation, and I have been watching animated shows and movies for as long as I can remember. Some of my personal favorite animated shows and movies are Todardora, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Fate: Zero, Bojack Horseman, We Bear Bears and Cowboy Bebop. Some of my favorites, Your Name, Garden of Words, and Ratatouille. Some non-animated movies and shows I like are Fawlty Towers, Mind Your Language, Interstellar, and The Pink Panther series. I also really like reading books, with my favorite one being a Light Novel called: "5 Centimeters Per Second."    Another aspect of movies and shows I love is the OST or Original SoundTrack. Some of my favorite songs I first heard in the film show OST's. They can create such a great impact...
