  • I found that more obscure genera/songs were used as opposed to the most popular songs  

of the era

  • Costumes are usually realistic outfits you would see average people wearing as they go 

 about their day  

  • Usually not much makeup as they want the characters to appear as realistic and relatable as  

possible  

  • Acting is usually with an emphasis on display on characters emotion towards each other  

and reality rather than supernatural or crazy types of events like you would see in action or fantasy 

 movies  

Editing  

  • Editing is usually not too crazy and is kept to more simplistic shots meant to show life  

  • No flashing tracking shots with 360 cameras or anything

What elements of the genre that you like? 

  • I like how easy it is to put yourself in the characters shoes and relate to their struggles. 

 It makes the viewing process much more enjoyable when you relate to a characters and their  

struggles.  

 
 

What elements of the genre do not appeal to  

  • A lot of the films can appear very similar and repetitive. Characters are commonly copy and 

 pasted as well as movie plots.

  We decided to do a commercial for NIKE. Specifically, we decided on the Air zoom Pegasus 38 shoes(Mainly because Jorge has a pair). Most NIKE ads show people participating in some form of physical activity like running or playing soccer, really anything they would wear shoes for.  In all the ads we watched the actors wore sporty clothing to further emphasize the activity that this is equipment meant for sport.  The actors often appear sweaty and out of breath. Oftentimes their skin is glistening, further emphasizing their participation in the activities.  Oftentimes there are fast-paced upbeat songs used to convey excitement and energy. It is meant to motivate.  The props usually vary between the ads as the actions taking place often vary greatly. Sometimes there might be a NIKE brand ball or NIKE Clothing, the list goes on and on. Production Blog: Music

  When we initially began the project we decided that we wanted to use specific songs for scenes of our movie. We had multiple songs picked out that could all work such as “November Rain” by Guns and Roses . We also had the idea for certain movies most were fans of to be used in the movie. After we had heard about the whole process we would need to use some of those songs we decided to reconsider. After a bit of back and forth, we came to our decision. We have decided we wanted to use Royalty free music for our project. This overall would make things easier for us as we don’t have to try to find and wait for permission to use the music. We also can change or add music as we go on and don’t have to wait for permission.  The first place I decided to check for royalty-free music was youtube. Genre Research: Hacksaw Ridge

  Genre Research: Hacksaw Ridge Common CAMS Close ups were often used in this film to potray the characters feelings to the audience and enhance their desperation or love they were showing. Establishing shots were used a few times in this movie to show the grand scope of the location. For example the shot of the climbing rope on the cliffside that looks humongus to them. Two shots were seen all throughout this film and were used to build bonds and relationships with each characters they showed. Common CLAMPS Costumes Were used perfectly in this movie by not using anything flashy and sticking to the era the story takes place in. For example the soldiers outfits in the movie greatly resemble the ones used during the ware itself and the clothing worn by the actors match the time this event took place.
