How do your products represent social groups or issues?

The decision to create a diverse cast of characters with no discernible social class or status is an interesting approach to storytelling. While it is important to showcase different cultural and social groups in entertainment, creating ambiguous characters and backgrounds can also have its benefits. By not specifying the social class or status of the characters, it allows the audience to insert themselves into the story and relate to the characters in a more personal way. This can increase the audience's feeling of acceptance and make them feel valued, which is something that humans naturally crave.

Furthermore, this approach allows for a broader representation of social groups and people. Instead of singling out a specific group, the ambiguous nature of the characters and their backgrounds allows for a wider range of people to relate to them. This can lead to a more inclusive and diverse audience, as individuals from various backgrounds can see themselves in the characters on screen.

In addition, the decision to not delve too deeply into the issues faced by the characters, such as Charlie's difficulties, further adds to the relatability of the story. By not singling out any specific issue, it allows the audience to see themselves in the characters and relate to them on a personal level.

Overall, while showcasing specific cultural or social groups in entertainment is important, creating ambiguous characters and backgrounds can also have its benefits. It can lead to a more inclusive and diverse audience, increase feelings of acceptance and relatability, and allow for a broader representation of social groups and people.

How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’?

How do your products engage with the audience?

In creating a short film that connects emotionally and morally with the audience, my team and I focused on the development of relatable characters and situations. The goal was to create a story that the audience could identify with on a personal level, and in doing so, evoke strong emotions and create a lasting impact. To achieve this, my team and I

explored different attributes of the characters, such as humor, avoidance of conflict, and immaturity, to give them a sense of realism and relatability.

In addition to character development, my team and I also made intentional choices when it came to the film's conflict and themes. By creating a conflict of values between selfishness and selflessness, the audience was able to understand the moral choices of the characters and root for their desired outcome. This helped to create a sense of emotional investment and engagement with the story.

The setting and music were also critical components of the film. The background setting played an important role in helping the audience understand the characters in a realistic environment. The music, on the other hand, helped to set the tone and enhance the emotional impact of the film.

Furthermore, my team and i made sure to distribute the film across various media platforms, such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, to reach a wider audience and gain more popularity. This allowed the film to become more accessible to different groups of people and to create a greater impact.

In conclusion, my team and I were intentional with our choices to create a story that emotionally and morally engages the audience. By focusing on character development, creating a conflict of values, and utilizing setting and music, wewere able to create a compelling story that resonates with the audience. Additionally, the distribution of the film across various platforms helped to increase its reach and impact.

How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?

The process of creating a short film began with researching different genres and ultimately deciding on drama. This decision was made based on the genre's emphasis on character development and emotional conflict, as well as its ability to portray relatable real-life situations. To create an effective drama,my team and I utilized common conventions such as camera angles and shots, sound design, mise-en-scene, and editing.

Camera angles and shots were used to convey different aspects of the story, with wide shots emphasizing the character's place within the setting, medium shots capturing the character's expressions while still showing the environment, and close-ups revealing the character's emotions in detail. Sound design was also crucial in creating a realistic and emotionally impactful story. The soundtrack was tailored to the specific situation and characters, with sad music for moments of isolation and background noise to add authenticity to the dialogue.

Mise-en-scene was also carefully crafted to reflect the characters' development throughout the film. The costumes chosen were casual and relatable to real life, and the overall environment was designed to reflect the tone and emotion of the story. Finally, editing was used to create a sense of tension and drama by cross-cutting between different characters' dialogue and actions, emphasizing that multiple events were happening simultaneously.

Overall, by carefully researching and utilizing the conventions of the drama genre, my team and i were able to create a compelling short film with emotional depth and relatable characters.
